After winning the NBA MVP award back in 2014, Kevin Durant was faced with adversity last season as he sat out the majority of the year with injuries. As a result Russell Westbrook was forced to carry the entire team on his back and even though he had an MVP caliber season, the Thunder came up just short of making the playoffs.
This year KD is back and once again playing at the superstar level that we’re used to seeing him at and the Thunder are one of the best teams in the league at the moment. Nike is now releasing a new colorway of the KD 8 to coincide with Chinese New Year that has been dubbed Perseverance. It is believed that that this Team Red KD 8 represents perseverance and resilience, with the national flower of China, the plum blossom, appearing on the tongues as symbols of these strengths. Bright Crimson, White, Sail and University Red also make an appearance on the shoe to provide some contrast to the dark upper.
The Nike KD 8 Perseverance is expected to release in China on February 6th but we’re still awaiting a US release date. Stay tuned to Kicks On Fire for further updates.
Love the burgundy/team red upper on this KD 8. The flower graphics on the tongue are also a nice touch since we never really see much done with this area of the shoe. I just wish that the orange would have been replaced with whit or a different color.
