Partnet CEO Discusses Logistics 2.0 in Defense Systems Magazine
March 9, 2010
A new editorial from Partnet CEO, Don Brown, Ph.D, is featured in the March issue of Defense Systems magazine. Dr. Brown discusses Logistics 2.0—a responsive, next-generation approach to troop support combining modern logistics processes and functionality with real-time intelligence from warfighters.
Dr. Brown talks about the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Tactical Ground Reporting System—an interface that gives soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines the ability to "exchange and evaluate [logistics] information through a map-based system." Dr. Brown says systems like this can help the DOD overcome inherent obstacles to defense logistics by overlaying enterprise applications with "intelligence gleaned directly from the warfighter."
Dr. Brown adds that Logistics 2.0 is not necessarily a technology initiative—it's a way for DOD to enable and integrate the warfighter experience into the defense logistics enterprise. "Logistics 2.0 is about using the most powerful information resource we have—our men and women in uniform—and creating a more efficient and reliable mechanism for supporting their mission."
