DOD EMALL in Action — Supporting the Warfighter and Saving Taxpayers Money

January 11, 2010

The Defense Logistics Agency salutes DOD EMALL in a recent news release from Defense Supply Center-Richmond, demonstrating the real-time application of DOD EMALL on the modern battlefield.

The article tells the story of a supply-chain manager serving a six-month tour of duty in Iraq, and how he leveraged DOD EMALL to expedite and fulfill the logistics needs of deployed soldiers. "To determine what needed expediting, I looked in DOD EMALL . . . I averaged 25 to 30 items daily that needed expediting," says DOD civilian Phillip LaBranche.

"You don't know the full extent of DLA until you get out in the field. When [DOD] employees deploy, they learn more about the different supply chains DLA operates, like fuel, food, repair parts, and re-utilization of materials." LaBranche further states that DOD EMALL is facilitating smarter supply chain management by reducing over-procurements and eliminating excess item quantities, while saving taxpayers millions of dollars in the process.
