As a nation, we have just witnessed the most IT-savvy individual ever to run for the presidency take up residence at the White House. As has been widely reported, the President and key members of his administration understand the importance that Web 2.0 and related social networking tools--such as Facebook, blogging, YouTube, etc. -- will play in promoting transparency, advancing the government's ability to share information, and better serving the citizen. The possibilities are tremendous and the promise is real.
We appreciate President Obama's forward-thinking Web 2.0 approach and stand ready to support it as an idea whose time has come. Leveraging next-generation Internet capabilities will allow the government to more efficiently and effectively communicate with the public, as well as open up the government and make it more citizen-centric.
